Highlights from BISA’s “Knowledge is Beautiful” Breast Cancer and Breast Implant Safety Awareness Event

BISA continues to empower women in local communities on breast cancer and breast implant safety.

Sherri Gorbett, a passionate advocate for women's health and serves on the board of directors for Breast Implant Safety Alliance (BISA) Nonprofit and recently became involved with pageants to promote women’s health issues. Sherri made pageant history as the first-ever contestant to talk about breast implant safety and awareness.

On her mission to educate and support women, Sherri hosted the 2nd "Knowledge is Beautiful" Awareness Event in her community focusing on breast cancer and breast implant safety. Held in Bend, Oregon, the event brought together women, medical experts, and advocates to highlight important women’s health issues: breast cancer awareness, breast cancer reconstruction options including aesthetic flat closure and the importance of understanding the safety concerns surrounding breast implants.

Speakers of the event included breast cancer survivors Cricket Campbell & Lisa Nunes, Central Oregon Radiology Associates (CORA) Dr. Amber Faast and LeeAnn Ford and Freedom Regenerative Medicine: Carol Petherbridge, ND along with a heartfelt message from breast cancer survivor, model and influencer, Christine Handy.

Special thanks to those that donated raffle items and donated food for this event including Keith at Dump City Dumplings, Kelsey at Nothing Bundt Cakes and Chef Asa Newton. BISA is so grateful to see this support from the Bend community.
