3rd Breast Implant Health Symposium Announced

The 3rd Breast Implant Health Symposium is an event designed for healthcare practitioners to learn about assessing and treating patients with implantable devices such as breast implants. This virtual event will take place on November 2nd and 3rd, 2024.

The organizers have outlined that Day 1 will feature a panel discussion centered on the safety and risks associated with breast implants, while Day 2 will focus on comparing partial versus complete capsulectomy during explantation. These moderated discussions will include respected experts in the field and are designed to promote learning and further the conversation for the benefit of individuals with breast implants.

One of BISA’s advisors, Stephen Nicolaidis, MD, will be speaking on Sunday, November 3rd. "Capsulectomy or Not: The Patient Can Decide” is the title of his presentation. Dr. Nicolaidis is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in both Canada and the United States who focuses only on explant surgery. His presentation will provide insight on informed decisions regarding implant removal/explant surgery.

Dr. Mithun Sinha, who has a strong background in biotechnology and immunology, will explore the impact of biofilms on breast implant-related immune responses with his presentation, "Breast Implant Biofilm-Mediated Immune Response." His work, supported by funding from NIH/NIAID, has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed publications, advancing knowledge on biofilm-mediated immune reactions in implant patients.
