BISA Represents at the first annual MUSC Breast Cancer Survivors Wellness Expo

Maria Gmitro at BISA MUSC Breast Cancer Survivors Wellness Expo

On October 8, 2022, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) held its first annual Breast Cancer Survivors Wellness Expo in Charleston, South Carolina. This brand new event was designed for breast cancer patients/survivors/co-survivors focusing on women’s health & wellness, fashion, beauty, food, and more to provide all visitors with resources and information to assist in their successful breast cancer journey and long-term survivorship.

Maria Gmitro, BISA President & Founder, was a featured speaker and gave a presentation about breast implant safety and what patients need to know today who are living with or considering breast implants. Maria also discussed the Stand Tall AFC Campaign and flat visibility with Dr. Wendy Sage. BISA also had a display full of resources and information during the Expo.

BISA provided a gift bag for the raffle that was valued at over $500 dollars with donations from local businesses in Charleston. Thank you to Gut Harmony, Deeper Healing, Charleston Shoe Company, Beech Restaurants, and Gretchen Scott for your generous donations.

According to Gmitro, “The event was a great success, and I was honored to be a part of it. We made many connections in the breast cancer space, connected with individuals who later attended our Stand Tall AFC event at Principle Art Gallery and the Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk. BISA will definitely participate in this event next year, and we already have some ideas for the future.”
