At a Parliament Hill Press Conference Advocates Demand Action on Breast Implant Registry
On November 27, 2025, Breast Implant Safety Alliance (BISA) advocates Terri McGregor and Julie Elliott joined Canadian lawmaker Luc Thériault and leading physicians on Parliament Hill to spotlight a critical gap in women’s health: the absence of a national breast implant registry.
Speaking directly with reporters, they explained how the lack of tracking compromises the health and safety of Canadian women and obscures the true risks associated with breast implants. They also highlighted serious oversight failures by Health Canada and the ways manufacturer conflicts of interest in both reporting and research continue to distort the evidence base and undermine patient safety.
Their message was clear: Canadian women deserve transparency, accountability, and a registry that truly protects their health.
Read about the last time BISA advocates were urgently called to testify in front of Parliament in 2023 on the need for a breast implant registry in Canada. We remain deeply grateful for the continued hard work and unwavering dedication of patient advocates who are pushing forward meaningful progress in women’s health.
