The MUSC Breast Cancer Survivors Wellness Event was held at the MUSC Wellness Center, located in beautiful downtown Charleston on Saturday, October 21, 2023. The event is an annual expo designed to provide resources to individuals, and loved ones of individuals, who are battling or have survived breast cancer. Maria Gmitro represented BISA and shared breast implant safety information and tips with participants and other vendors and professionals.
Gmitro said her biggest take-a-way from the event was hearing from many breast survivors that said they wished they waited a year to heal before choosing which type of reconstruction to have if any reconstruction at all. Many survivors said that they felt rushed and they were not ware that Aesthetic Flat Closure was an option.
As a result of her participation, Gmitro will be speaking at future breast cancer events at MUSC.
