During the day, Sarah Beckcom works at CPG company; with over 17 years of experience, her B.S. in hospitality administration led her to the industry.

Sarah Beckcom is the Vice President of the Breast Implant Safety Alliance and a member of the board. Currently, she’s writing bills for Arkansas and Virginia on informed consent, but her advocacy role began much earlier.

After four years of having symptoms downplayed or brushed off, Sarah decided to remove her 6-year-old Allergan breast implants.

Her doctor promised proper testing—it was not done; the majority of her capsules were thrown out. The remaining capsules were later sent to MD Anderson, where evidence of ALCL was found, and further testing was ordered. Testing came back negative; no other capsules were retained from her previous doctor.

Sarah faces a lifetime risk for lymphoma and follows a five-year surveillance plan. She advocates for proper testing, informed consent, stricter FDA approval guidelines, and a symptom checklist for all doctors.

Sarah has four children and co-resides in Arkansas and Virginia with her husband of 17 years. Her mission is to make sure women and health professionals are informed of the risks associated with implants.
