Michelle Y. Llamas is a Board Certified Patient Advocate, medical and legal researcher and writer, and a digital marketer with Drugwatch.com and ConsumerNotice.org.

Her work has been published in print and online for more than 18 years. She works with patients, medical professionals, legal experts, and advocacy organizations that align with her mission to educate consumers to be their own advocates.

Prior to her career as a professional writer, Michelle was a legal assistant and case manager at a large law firm in Orlando. She helped fight for people injured because of negligence, sparking her passion for consumer safety and health advocacy. She uses her legal experience to write about product liability lawsuits that affect consumers injured by defective drugs, medical devices and consumer products.

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in English – Technical Communication from the University of Central Florida, a certificate in Patient Advocacy from the University
of Miami, health literacy certificates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and a certificate from the National Center for Health Research
journalism workshop.

She’s a member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and has served on multiple AMWA committees. She was elected president of the AMWA
Florida Chapter for 2023-2024. She is also a member of the Florida Writers Association and Healthcare Advocates of Central Florida.

In 2020, she was a National Center for Health Research PCORI COVID-19 Teleconference Advisory Board member. She has been cited and published in
peer-reviewed medical journals, and her COVID-19 coverage earned her an Apex Award for Publication Excellence.
