Amanda Savage Brown

PSYCHOTHERAPIST, MENTAL HEALTH ADVISOR

Chicago, IL

Last Modified: June 16, 2023

Dr. Amanda Savage Brown is a torchbearer for women navigating the psychosocial impacts of breast implants. She draws from her life’s work in women’s health that began while earning a Ph.D. in genetics, continued as an officer in the United States Public Health Service, and flourished in her private psychotherapy and coaching practices.

Using the evidence-based approaches of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, she helps women reclaim themselves from socially-driven self non-acceptance.

In 2018, her personal life and professional expertise aligned as she moved through her explant journey and witnessed countless women struggling with the deeply felt, yet poorly supported, mental, emotional, and social aspects of breast implants and their removal. She now specializes in the well-being of persons considering or recovering from silhouette-altering breast surgery.

She’s the author of Busting Free, the only self-help book for women before, during, and after explant. Busting Free won the 2022 Best Independent Book Award in Women’s Well-Being and three additional distinctions in the 2023 Eric Hoffer Book Award cycle. Amanda's breast-implant-related social work efforts received the 2023 Excellence in Social Work Award from the Association of Contextual Behavioral Sciences.
