BISA Attends 5th World Consensus Conference on BIA-ALCL

On Saturday, April 20, 2024, members of the Breast Implant Safety Alliance (BISA) virtually attended the 5th World Consensus Conference on BIA-ALCL to learn the most recent updates on breast implant-associated cancers, as well as how to best support patients and help inform the public.

The 5th World Consensus Conference on BIA-ALCL convened in Rome, Italy, after the 9th International Breast Surgery Workshop. BISA appreciates that the event was free to stream online and that the live stream can be replayed at any time.

Under the direction of Jennifer Cook, BISA’s Director of BIA-ALCL Advocacy, our team will be summarizing what we learn. We’ll post our review of the new information on our website.

The 5th World Consensus Conference on BIA-ALCL was split into 5 sections:

  • Session 1 - BIA-ALCL: The Game of Evidence

  • Session 2 - Tracking, Epidemiology and Management

  • Session 3 - Beyond the Surface: Leading Theories on BIA-ALCL Pathogenesis

  • Session 4 - BIA-ALCL: Government Authority Guidance and Perspective & National Societies

  • Session 5 - Virtual - Patient Education
